General Studies/Student Development Course Proposals

**ACC Email Address Required **

General Studies/Student Development LAG course proposals for EDUC-1300 are accepted between late-March and early June. Applicants will be notified in August before the start of the fall semester. Applicants must have a rating of “Very Good” or higher on their most recent faculty evaluation. Please email a letter of interest to Eva Thomsen explaining the course you would like to design and how it addresses the General Studies-Student Development for EDUC-1300.

Accepted professors will join a cohort of SDEV faculty called a Community of Practice. Working with your colleagues, you will familiarize yourself with the Liberal Arts Gateway philosophy, attend three meetings per semester, engage in peer-to-peer consultations and/or observations, and redesign your course over two semesters. At the end of the course redesign process, you will submit a reflection, a course description, and an assignment/class activity that aligns with the Liberal Arts Gateway Disciplinary Guideline and Practices. Examples of these course deliverables will be shared during SDEV LAG Information Sessions. These session dates and times will be shared by the department. In addition, you will be certified as a Liberal Arts Gateway course professor, and your course will appear on the course schedule with your unique title. You will also be given professional development credit and a stipend. If you have any questions, please contact Eva Thomsen.
